P-1.2—We shall care for and educate children in positive emotional and
social environments that are cognitively stimulating and that support each
child’s culture, language, ethnicity, and family structure.
I-2.4—To listen to families, acknowledge
and build upon their strengths and competencies, and learn from families as we
support them in their task of nurturing children.
I-3C.1—To promote safe and healthy working conditions and policies that foster
mutual respect, cooperation, collaboration, competence, well-being, confidentiality,
and self-esteem in staff members.
After reading through the
NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct and DEC code of ethics I decided to share these 3
principles from the NAEYC code on my blog. When I read through the 3 together they sounded like the
beginnings of a mission statement I might use if I were opening an early
childhood center. Although it was
hard to separate them from the rest of this important document I felt like together they
touched on the ideals I hold close.
These are definitely codes of ethics that you could use to make a mission statement when opening your own facility. I like the second one about family. Sometimes families need the support to understand and help them parent especially if their child has a disability.
ReplyDeleteThese are great things to keep in mind when working with children. I can see how you could use them to start a early childhood center. The three you have chosen do an excellent job of summing up the main point of working in a early childhood facility.
ReplyDeleteA foundation is what you have gotten from these three statements. A foundation for your forulmation of a child care program.
